Many events are organized all the year round in Sappada: children’s animation, concerts, sport events, folklore, village fairs and the popular "Beer Fest" in mid-August, that has become one of the most famous in Italy.
Do not mis the “Village Feast” (“Festa delle Borgate”), in Sappada historic centre, and Carnival, whose protagonist is Rollate, an austere character that wears a bear coat. Traditions in Sappada are maintained also by the folk group Holzhockar, well-known for the folk dance.
Summer
In Summer Sappada offers many opportunities for the lovers of horse-riding, mountain bike and trekking; the enthusiasts of angling find a nice lake. Many paths wind among woods and lakes.This area offers children a wide choice of leisure activities: playgrounds, trampolines, miniature golf, swings and slopes for rubbers in the park “Nevelandia Estate”.
Winter
Hotel Bladen is a paradise for the lovers of winter sports, as it lies just 100 m. from the ski runs.In winter Sappada offers 20 km of ski runs and snowboard trails with different difficulty levels, ski camps for children and beginners as well as challenging slopes. The ski facilities include 5 chairlifts (Monte Ferro, Eiben, Sappada 2000, Monte Siera) and 11 ski lifts. All ski runs are easily accessible from the town centre and the ski-pass owners can join a free ski bus service to the ski facilities.
Cross-country lovers will enjoy 15/20 km of trails in the wood; the beginners find some rings. There is a cross-country centre where important events, even international races take place.
Sappada is home of famous cross-country champions, such as Silvio Fauner, Pietro Piller Cottrer and Maurilio De Zolt; home of the brothers Filippo and Giacomo Kratter, popular snowboard champions – the second came fourth (in the half-pipe event) during the last Olympics in Salt Lake City.
